What is a self-certified ID (SCID)?
- Driver's License
- Passport
- Government-issued photo ID
- Note: The ID must be issued on the state or federal level.
Tips to capture the best SCID:
- Make sure your ID is valid, not expired, and the entire ID is in-frame
- Set up good lighting from the front to ensure a high-quality picture
- Keep your head and shoulders in the frame, like an ID photo
- Avoid sunglasses or hats and don’t use any filters

What is considered proof of residence?
Proof of Residence is a document used to confirm your current residence. This is a document that shows:
- Your name
- Your current address
- An account/customer/invoice number
- A date within 60 days of the upload date
Below are examples of a few acceptable documents:
- Utility invoices for energy, water/sewer, gas, or trash services
- Communication invoices for phone, internet, or cable/TV services
- Bank statements
- Leases with matching service and delivery addresses dated within 60 days

A few more important notes:
- For identification uploads: we cannot accept scans, temporary IDs, Digital IDs, PDFs, or expired IDs.
- For proof of residence uploads: we will accept screenshots, images of paper statements, and PDFs.
- Uploaded images must be clearly visible and uploaded in full.
- Include all pages of your document that are not altered or redacted in any way.
If prompted to Scan ID & Consent to Verify ID, follow these steps:
1. Complete account creation, verify your identity, and start the SCAN ID steps to verify your ID.
2. Complete the Consent to Verify ID page.
3. Click Allow for to permit verify-v2.socure.com to use your camera.
4. Front of ID: While on the To Get Started page, place your ID on a flat surface and hold your phone over the ID.
5. Ensure the front of your ID is in the viewfinder while scanning your ID.
6. Submit the Front side captured image.

- Hit Submit for Validation.
- Click, Success for the next step.
7. Back of ID: While on the To Get Started page, flip your ID over so the barcode is showing and hold your phone over the ID.

- Make sure the barcode is sharp and in focus
- The scan may remind you to keep the ID flat.
8. Proceed with capturing the back side of your ID and click Submit for validation—be sure to wait until this screen closes on its own. If you close out the screen, you'll get a pop-up to either continue or skip and verify later. Note: If you choose to verify later, you'll still need to verify your age and identity prior to using DraftKings products.
9. To finish, you’ll verify your identity with your social security number (SSN).
