What are Poker Hand Rankings?


The following are the possible hands in poker, ranked from best to worst:

  1. Royal Flush - This is a hand containing a Ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. All cards are of the same suit.

  1. Straight Flush - This hand contains five cards in consecutive order. All cards are of the same suit.

  1. Four of a Kind -  This is a hand containing four cards with the same ranking. These are accompanied by any other card as the fifth.

  1. Full House - This hand contains two cards and three cards with the same ranking.

  1. Flush - This is a hand containing five cards, all with a matching suit.



  1. Straight - This hand contains five cards in consecutive order regardless of their suit.

  1. Three of a Kind - This is a hand containing three cards with the same ranking, along with two cards of differing ranks.

  1. Two Pair - This hand contains two separate pairs of cards with the same rank, and one other card that doesn’t match either pair.

  1. One Pair - This is a hand containing two cards with the same rank, and three additional cards with differing ranks.

  1. High Card - This hand applies when you do not have any of the previously mentioned hands, playing the card with the highest ranking. This would be the Ace in the below example.
