How do I create a recurring contest?

Recurring Contests

At DraftKings, you can create your own private contests within a league, and then invite friends to join. If a contest is set to recurring, it is automatically created for the next week and all league members will receive notifications.

Recurring contests will also carry over into the next season. For example, a recurring contest that runs throughout the NFL season will automatically populate again prior to Week 1 of the following season.

Eligible Sports

Not all sports support recurring contests. Eligible sports include: NFL, CFB, MMA, NASCAR, Soccer (EPL Showdowns only), GOLF, F1, and UFL.

Important Notes:

  • Entry fees for recurring contests are not collected in advance, they will only be collected on individual entries when submitted.
  • If the contest doesn't run two consecutive times, it will be canceled.
  • In the event of cancelation, the commissioner can create a new contest within the League and resend invites for it.

Contest Creation Timing (Example: NFL)

Recurring contests are typically created in advance of each slate. For example:

  • Thursday contests - 3 days prior (Monday afternoon/night)
  • Sunday contests - 4 days prior (Wednesday afternoon/night)
  • Monday contests - 2 days prior (Saturday afternoon/night)

How to create Recurring Contests on Desktop

Creating a recurring contest starts by following the same steps required for creating a regular contest:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Click on the Contests option from the menu at the top of the page.
  3. Go to the My Contests section.
  4. Click on the green Create a Contest button, which you will find on the right-hand side of the My Contests page.
  5. Customize your contest according to your preferences and the available contest rules.
  6. If the draft group you selected is eligible to be a recurring contest, you will see the option at the bottom of the page.
  7. Click on Create Contest and create your lineup.
  8. Invite your friends to join your new contest by sending them a link to it.

Re-sizing Rules

If all available slots in your contest are not filled at the time the contest goes live, your contest may be resized. Resizing allows contests to run even though they do not meet the number of entries for which the contest was initially designed. If a contest is resized, it will attempt to keep the same payout structure for which the contest was initially designed. If that prize structure is unavailable, the next closest prize structure will be chosen.
