Game Style: Best Ball - Overview

Fantasy Sports Best Ball contests can span multiple weeks to an entire season. Fantasy Sports participants draft athletes in a snake draft against other fantasy participants. That roster is used for the entire duration of the contest. This means there’s no roster management to worry about.

The final standings for a Best Ball contest are determined by the cumulative sum of participants’ fantasy points each week.

As an example only: If a participant’s starting lineup scores 100 fantasy points in week 1, and their starting lineup scores 120 fantasy points in week 2, their total fantasy points in the contest’s overall standings is 220.

DraftKings takes the athletes a participant has drafted and each week places the top-performing athletes into the starting lineup.

Each week, your highest-scoring players are automatically in your starting lineup. Your non-starting players each week will make up your bench, and their fantasy points will not count toward your team’s overall fantasy point total.

There are also two options for drafting Best Ball entries: Fast Drafts and Slow Drafts. Fast Drafts give you 30 seconds per pick to keep things moving, whereas Slow Drafts allow up to 8 hours per pick. Drafts start after all seats are filled.

Best Ball contests can be Sit & Go's or Tournaments.

Sit & Go’s Contests

Sit & Go Contests: In a Sit & Go contest, the team with the highest cumulative point total wins. These contests are played throughout the entire season and include from 3 to 12 teams. Snake drafts are also utilized in Sit & Go contests.

Tournaments Contests

Tournaments: In tournaments, the team(s) with the highest cumulative points each round advance to the next round to compete against other teams that have advanced. Tournaments are typically four rounds and offer larger prizes to the winners.
